Difference in the Domes

by Jayson Kandiah on June 07, 2019

Picking a CCTV system can be very hard because of all the choices in cameras, choices in services and the amount your investing. You do not want to spend that kind of money on something that doesn’t provide what you initially intended it for. That’s why we decided to create this blog breaking down the differences in our APro Dome camera range and see what situations they work best in, so you can figure out what’s best for you.

First up is the APro Fixed Dome camera. This is a slick, little camera that is quite often used indoors because of its smaller size. This camera is a lot more discreet and doesn’t stick out like some other cameras we provide. This does not mean that they aren’t more than suitable for an outdoor setting because all APro cameras are built with an IP67 weather rating protecting it from any weather. 2MP and 5MP are available for this camera both in AHD and IP. The APro Fixed Dome’s best features are, firstly, its slick and subtle appearance and, secondly, its more than affordable price. This camera is APro’s entry-level camera as others have different features added to them such as a varifocal lens or anti-vandal housing. However, this allows the camera to still be excellent at its job providing an HD colour image day and night whilst still being at a truly cost-effective price. 2MP and 5MP are available for this camera both in AHD and IP. All AHD cameras don’t possess analytics but if bought with an APro DVR, the brains of the system, it will come with 3 analytics. These analytics are Perimeter Intrusion Detection, Line Cross Detection and Stationary Object Detection. But IP cameras do possess 6 analytics without the NVR present. These extra 3 are Face Detection, Pedestrian Detection and Cross Counting.

Second is the APro Varifocal Dome camera. This camera is handy for If you ever need to zoom in or out and adjust your field of view. A varifocal lens allows you to do so. Just turn the zoom screw and the focus screw to alter your view, but we would recommend you leave it to the engineer on your initial instalment. The varifocal lens is good for its custom field of view, its respectable IR range and the price that comes with it. It’s a little bit more expensive than the fixed dome but doesn’t amount to as much as the Anti-Vandal camera.

Finally, we have APro’s Anti-Vandal camera. This camera is best suited for situations where the camera is in arms reach and could easily be tampered with. The robust housing is what gives the camera its name, it provides a strong lens cover to protect the lens from being interfered with and large bolts to hold the housing in place. The Anti-Vandal camera is the highest in price out of all the dome cameras because of its extra anti-vandal feature along with all other features that are found with any other dome cameras. This camera just goes a little bit further to ensure your safety.
